This blog post is now outdated by about a week but our school had a trip to the awesome Tate gallery in London! Our main focus was the Lichtenstein pop art exhibition but pop art doesn't really excite me as it does everyone else^^
Now what comes to mind when you see this?
...
....
SEX
( if this was your first guess than you and me both have a sick mind brother)
But anyways its called Siege by Richard Wentworth. Seige being a reference to the french of seat as well as the English word for being under attack. The artist himself said..

'stemmed from a very different moment in gender politics, and it is now more common to discuss how pathetic men are. I used to think most of the time that I feel pathetic-and why shouldn't one make work about that ?

Next....
Is this lil' baby is a tree carved from a tree... Wait how does that work? Well it seems the artist got himself a rather large chunk of timber and managed to carve himself an older version of the tree from a newer outer grown part thus reveling the 'inner tree' .This one really intrigued me though it says a lot about some thing old from something new, traditional skills we are now losing, and it really shocked me about how nature grows. In a way us humans are a lot like this tree composed of layers and barriers which we form around the original to protect it.
at least that's what I see when I look at this tree.

Creepy sculpture is eating away at my soul 0.o ...
The worst part is that my mind tries to connect the shapes to body parts too
okay I don't want to stare at this anymore.
Bonus picture!
So it was a great day. ^^
Our crazy art teacher even managed to get our year to do the Harlem shake and Mexican wave in the turbine hall!
Sorry if this post is a bit boring.
